Dalmatian Print

I’m not too big on using animal prints in interiors, but I’ve noticed the recent use of dalmatian print on throw pillows, wallpaper and upholstery, and I must say that I reaaally like it.  Dalmatian is definitely the least serious of all the animal prints.  Snow cheetah comes close, but it looks more like dashes and is not as fun…dalmatian looks like little irregular polka dots, and that just makes me happy. As you will see, dalmatian print works well with bright colors, brassy metals and floral prints…it would make for a SUPER cute pattern to use in a girl’s bedroom or nursery.

This wallpaper is amazing, see how well it works with the bright colors?

Now here is an example of show cheetah…it is still nice, but not as fun as the dalmatian print.

I do love how the bright floral and the abstract art looks with it.

Looks cute as a throw pillow too….and again, it is paired with a floral print and with abstract art.

I love how the light pink walls work with all of the black and white in the room.

Another example of wallpaper, although I don’t think it is actually dalmatian but you can get the idea.

Check out the brass with the dalmatian… the mirror and the sconces look great! The little blue edge on the towels also adds a nice touch.

And here it is on a sofa, it adds a bold pattern and some unexpected whimsy to a room with an otherwise serious overall feel.

Animal print is pretty big right now…in interiors and in fashion. I have a pair of leopard print ballet flats, however I must say that I have my eye on these dalmatian ankle boots. One because they are awesome and two because the flats kill my feet.  I have no idea what I’d wear with them tho. I wonder if the same rules apply in fashion as they do with the interiors in which I’ve listed above. I’d definitely wear gold jewelry, maybe a pastel or red pant, but I’m not sure I’d wear a floral top…that might be just a little much.
