These clients are a marketing manager and a ex-punk rock musician with five-year-old twins and a dog named Pearl. They lived in the quiet English countryside and the bustling City of Lights before returning to the US, settling in the Crestview neighborhood of Austin.
We worked with Dawson Lupul Builders on our clients’ new construction spec home to specify materials that combined the traditional influences of a farmhouse design then juxtaposed with modern, edgier furnishings. We started by selecting finishes that are high end, yet feel casual and textural. Then we maximized functionality for the family after the home was built by selecting a sectional sofa that the family could lounge on and hang out comfortably while watching TV and listening to records. We brought the concept together by layering in custom patterns, lighting, furniture, shades and drapery. We found vintage rugs and utilized color blocking with pillows, rugs and florals on top of the tonal palette. We also incorporated vintage art that we stumbled upon in Round Top, TX that truly makes this design unique.
