Interior Design – Furniture Project for a Living Room, Dining Room, Game Room

A family with three young children moved into a new home and required all new interior design plan for furnishings that were beautiful and yet functional for high-traffic family get-togethers. We were hired to take on the more formal portions of the home – the living room and dining/game room.

Although the dining room was long and narrow, the clients wanted to preserve the existing walls. Normally-sized dining tables were too wide, but gave us the opportunity to design a custom walnut table with steel cabriole legs, made my local artisan furniture maker Brian Chilton, that fit just right. One of our favorite parts of this entire room is the wallpaper with its subtle curves that are reflected in the custom table and the custom-made mirror. Further, this room’s length allowed us to zone out and anchor an extra space devoted to playing card and board games.

In the living room we commissioned Elizabeth Schwager, a local artist, to create a work that cemented the client’s colorful traditional style. We were excited to see Austin HOME publish this beautiful project.
